About
My name is Kayla Knilans. I grew up in the midwest, but have been living on the east coast for 14 years. Over the years I began to appreciate the east coast’s beauty and magic in the old mountain ranges and forests. I feel the wild areas here are often overlooked in landscape photography within the United States. My objective with my photography is to capture that magic that I see and feel. While my current adventures have been to locations that are easy day drives for me - Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia - I hope to begin expanding into other states soon.
I’m a scientist by training, and have my PhD in immunology. When I’m not out with my camera, I work as a scientific policy advisor in the Washington, DC area. I live in Maryland with my cat and my S.O. of over a decade; he is also my traveling partner. These photos would not be possible without him.
